Digital Television Technology
Overview
The term 'non-technical' identifies members of staff who would benefit from a comprehensive technical update on the new range of facilities used by the TV industry, particularly where technical aspects of programme preparation and transmission are concerned. This includes non technical staff members working in areas of responsibility such as, management, sales and promotion, production, scheduling, library, secretarial, client reception or junior trainee technicians.

Basic Media Technology (FOH1)
Level 1 (Basic) Course OutlineThe aim of this course is to give non-technical staff a better understanding of the technology and facilities used by the modern television provider and user.
It is intended to equip the delegate with an introductory knowledge of 'state of the art' technology available at the time that the course is delivered. The final discussion will attempt to address the potential power of the new technology. Currently discussion on the implications of Non Linear platform editing, data compression, the role of computers in post production and transmission are likely to be the topics tha will arise.

Level 2 (Advanced)
Course Outline
The aim of this short course is to give non-technical staf a better understanding of the latestdigitaltechnology and facilities being used by the modern television provider and user.
It is intended to equip the delegate with an introductory knowlege of 'state of the art' technology available at the time that the course is delivered.Multimedia technologyis growing rapidly and the course will always need to be updated. Hence the final discussion will attempt to address the potential power of the new technology. Currently this will be about the impact of multimedia via digital transmission methods and DVD and Web TV.
